HRF expresses deep concern over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s refusal to address questions at a press meeting in Norway asked by journalist Helle Lyng Svendsen from the Dagsavisen, a Norwegian newspaper.
Svendsen’s questions — and Modi’s refusal to answer them — renewed conversations around press freedom in India and the Modi government’s lack of engagement with independent media organizations and journalists.

Prime Minister Modi has not held a news conference at home during his 12-year term in office. His interviews are usually conducted by media organizations viewed as close to the government.
