APAC ( Beijing) – November 18, 2025

1/ HRF condemns Beijing’s decision to uphold journalist Dong Yuyu’s seven-year sentence with no due process. HRF calls for Dong’s immediate and unconditional release.

2/ Since participating in the Tiananmen movement in 1989, Dong’s reporting on social issues, rule of law, corruption, and constitutional reform has received international acclaim. His prosecution
reflects the CCP’s broader use of national security charges to suppress independent reporting. According to @pressfreedom, at least 49 journalists are currently imprisoned in China. (CPJ)
