About
The Human Rights Foundation and Cuban Freedom March present Doors to Freedom, an art installation that tells the stories of artists exposing authoritarian regimes.
Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, Rayma Suprani, Zehra Doğan, the Gao Brothers, Azza Abo Rebieh, Pedro X. Molina, and Song Byeok have been censored, imprisoned, and exiled for simple acts of expression. Their satirical illustrations, radical performances, and figurative sculptures expose truths that authoritarian regimes wish to silence. Here, their stories confront us with a powerful reminder that art does not merely decorate — it testifies, disrupts, and resists.
Doors to Freedom features a collection of structures that illustrate both the constraints imposed on the artists and the power of artistic expression under even the harshest of conditions. Walls, traditionally symbols of confinement, instead bear witness to the artists’ creativity and lived experiences.
This show is sponsored by the Human Rights Foundation, Cuban Freedom March, and the City of Miami Beach, Florida. It was designed by Fullservice Office in collaboration with FXN Works Studio.
