We’re thrilled to share that Ugandan visual artist Leilah Babirye has been selected as the 2026 Art in Protest resident artist through our partnership with Fountainhead Arts. Leilah will be in residence at Fountainhead from February 18 to March 18, 2026.
Since 2023, HRF has partnered with Fountainhead to offer dissident artists the opportunity to further their career with the resources, mentorship, and documentation Fountainhead provides its resident artists. Founded in 2008, Fountainhead Arts is Miami’s oldest-running artist residency, inviting 24 artists annually to live and work in Miami in one-month-long residency sessions. It is considered one of the most prestigious American residencies for its robust career development objectives, which directly connects artists with professionals who can impact their careers, enhances their visibility through visual and critical documentation, and provides resources that continue beyond their initial residency.
