Announcing New Speakers for the Oslo Freedom Forum in NY

On Sept. 28, the Human Rights Foundation (HRF) will return to New York City’s historic The Town Hall theater for the fifth edition of the Oslo Freedom Forum in New York (OFF in NY).

Join us for an afternoon of theater talks and performances by the world’s top freedom fighters and dissidents. Tickets for daytime programming ($25 Theater Pass and $10 Student Pass) are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.

Meet the Changemakers Taking the Stage in New York

Boniadi is an Iranian-born, SAG, and AACTA Award-nominated actress and renowned activist. She has partnered with Amnesty International since 2008 to campaign for the rights of disenfranchised populations across the world, with a focus on the unjust conviction and treatment of Iranian youth, women, and prisoners of conscience. Her advocacy work has taken her to the United Kingdom and Canadian Parliaments, the United States Capitol, and United Nations.

Navarro is a journalist and former political prisoner. He was arbitrarily detained in 2018 and held in El Helicoide, Venezuela’s largest and most notorious torture center. He left for Argentina in 2019, where he now lives in exile. He is the executive director of Voces de la Memoria, an NGO at the intersection of technology and human rights and the creator of the VR experience, Helicoide.

Pastor Kim is a prominent human rights advocate and the head of Caleb Mission, a Christian church based in South Korea. He serves North Korean defectors, rescuing over 1,000 since 2000 and helping them become self-sufficient. His work was showcased in the film “Beyond Utopia,” which won the Audience Award for US Documentary at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

The 2023 Speaker Gala

Following theater programming, a special Speaker Gala will take place in the evening at the Rockefeller Center’s Rainbow Room. The Gala will be a unique opportunity to spend time with OFF speakers while enjoying additional talks, performances, and fine dining.

Gala tickets ($1,500 single and $10,000 eight-person table) are available for purchase on Eventbrite. You may also sponsor students and activists to attend OFF in NY. Gala tickets include access to afternoon theater programming.
