Families Urge Trump to Free 100 Chinese Prisoners, Ziba Murat Appeals for Mother

Xi Jinping is making his first state visit in a decade to the White House. The families of prisoners of conscience have a request for President Trump: Before Xi boards the plane home, free 100 political prisoners.

In a Washington Post op-ed (@PostOpinions), the daughter of freed Pastor Ezra Jin, the sister of detained Uyghur entrepreneur Ekpar Asat, and the wife of jailed lawyer Ding Jiaxi call for a “Big, Beautiful Release” — 100 people released out of 100 cells, the only gift that can’t be recalled, tariffed, or renegotiated.

Among the 100: Uyghur scholar Ilham Tohti, serving life for peaceful advocacy. Ekpar Asat, imprisoned for joining a US State Department leadership program. Dr. Gulshan Abbas, a retired physician nearly 8 years into a 20-year sentence. Jimmy Lai, age 78. And Gao Zhen, who turned 70 in a cell.

As President Trump and Xi Jinping meet this week, the daughter of Dr. Gulshan Abbas, @ziba116, has a direct message for Xi: It’s time to bring her mother home.

In an op-ed for the Daily Wire, Ziba writes, “My mother was taken because the Chinese Communist Party wanted to silence my aunt, an American citizen living in the United States.”
