The Power of AI: Tools for Defending Human Rights
Wednesday, Sept. 25
16:30 – 18:30
The Conduit, Oslo, Norway
Dictatorships strategically leverage AI to consolidate and perpetuate their power. But now human rights activists are countering this by developing their own AI-driven tools to expose abuses by authoritarian regimes. Panelists include Ilaria Carozza, senior researcher at PRIO (Peace Research Institute Oslo), and Dr. Klement Ruey-sheng Gu, representative of Taiwan to Sweden and Norway, and others who think deeply about the use and abuse of the power that comes with AI. The conversation will be led by Jørn Haanæs, who also led the conversation on the Race for Automated Warfare during the Oslo Freedom Forum in June.
The discussion will be followed by an after-work hour with drinks and light food, where participants can network with the Oslo Freedom Forum community.
