This submission was prepared by HRF for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the Republic of Niger (Niger). In this submission, HRF evaluates NigerтАЩs implementation of recommendations made during its previous UPR, as it relates to the current human rights situation in the country, which is characterized by systematic, widespread, and gross violations of human rights, including: the ongoing curtailment of the freedom of expression, information, association, and assembly, restrictions on the freedoms of the press, and arbitrary arrests, detentions and violations of due process of the law.
