Mohamed Keita is a senior policy officer and HRF’s Africa expert. With more than 15 years of experience in researching, writing, and campaigning about media, human rights, and democracy issues in more than 40 countries across the African continent, Keita guides and oversees HRF’s research, advocacy, projects, and other work related to the continent. He also co-manages HRF’s global programs focused on dissident art and the authoritarian exploitation of sports. Prior to HRF, he was the Africa researcher and advocacy coordinator with the Committee to Protect Journalists. His columns and essays have appeared in publications including The New York Times, Foreign Policy, and The World Policy Journal, and he has reported for Quartz and The Continent. He has spoken at the World Bank, the United Nations, the Foreign Policy Research Institute, the National Press Club, Yale, Stanford, and Columbia, among others.
