What is Oslo Scholars?

HRF matches students with Oslo Freedom Forum speakers based on their needs, interests, and expertise while the student’s university funds the internship expenses.

The activist serves as a mentor encouraging their Oslo Scholar to learn about, and become involved with, the global struggle for freedom and democracy. Past Oslo Scholars have worked with nonviolence experts in Serbia, North Korean activists in South Korea, and press freedom advocates in Angola. Previous Oslo scholars have come from Tufts University, McGill University, and Wellesley University.
