HRF condemns the travel ban imposed by the Central African Republic regime on Anicet-Georges Dologuélé, the main challenger to dictator Faustin Touadéra in the country’s sham December 2025 elections.

On May 5, the CAR public prosecutor seized Dologuélé’s diplomatic passport, which he obtained while serving as prime minister from 1999 to 2001. The seizure prevented him from traveling to attend a meeting in Addis Ababa in his capacity as a member of the African Union Peace Fund board of directors. Dologuélé denounced the measure as an “abuse of power.”
