Asia-Pacific (China) – April 6, 2026

HRF condemns the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s foreign interference operations targeting Taiwan and calls on the international community to counter China’s expanding transnational repression.

Recently leaked documents revealed that a Chinese firm built extensive databases on Taiwanese politicians, parties, and civil society, using AI-powered tools to track personal data and analyze millions of online posts to identify targets and shape election narratives.

The CCP leverages technology to interfere in democratic societies abroad. According to Taiwan-based think tank @doublethinklab , AI was used to categorize individuals, simulate voter behavior, and deploy coordinated messaging to exploit social divisions.

This operation underscores China’s growing use of transnational repression and AI-enabled influence campaigns to monitor, manipulate, and silence voices beyond its borders. HRF will continue to defend fundamental freedoms and expose efforts to distort democratic systems.
