Vadim Kobzev and Alexei Liptser, former lawyers for late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, have been detained since Oct. 13, 2023, on politically motivated charges of “extremism” because of their work as his attorneys.
In an interview from detention, Vadim reflects on his arrest and imprisonment, citing Don Quixote: “Perhaps we achieved nothing, perhaps we defeated no one, but at least we can look at ourselves without disgust.”
HRF calls for Russia to free Vadim Kobzev and Alexei Liptser, and echoes Kobzev’s vision of a future in which the world moves for those who refuse to yield in the face of oppression and authoritarianism.
