Watch talks from the 2024 Oslo Freedom Forum!

Did you miss this year’s Oslo Freedom Forum (OFF) in Oslo, Norway? Not to worry, we’ve got you covered with new videos from our incredible lineup of human rights defenders and democracy advocates.

This year’s theme, Reclaim Democracy, emphasized the pivotal role every individual — speaker and participant alike — plays within the global movement for liberal democracy and basic human rights. You can re-watch all theater talks at oslofreedomforum.com and on our YouTube page. Share these links with your family and friends so they can hear these stories for themselves.

Twitter co-founder and Block CEO Jack Dorsey talks with macroeconomist Lyn Alden about the importance of open source and decentralization, arguing that the free speech debate should be more focused on free will, especially as people are being programmed by black box algorithms.

Venezuelan opposition leader and presidential candidate María Corina Machado joins Human Rights Foundation CEO Thor Halvorssen onstage via livestream to discuss the country’s upcoming July 28 elections, which she remains hopeful of winning, despite the Maduro regime not only refusing to let its opposition appear on the ballot but routinely punishing and imprisoning candidates.

Palestinian-American peace advocate Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, who was raised in Gaza City, calls for the peaceful coexistence of Israelis and Palestinians and takes the balanced approach of being an outspoken critic of Hamas and of Israel’s war on Gaza.

Democracy advocate Yulia Navalnaya accepts the 2024 Thulani Maseko Justice Prize on behalf of her late husband, Russian dissident and opposition leader Alexei Navalny. The Maseko Justice Prize, established by HRF and the Thulani Maseko Foundation last year, recognizes courageous human rights lawyers who risk, or have risked, their lives to defend the rule of law and democracy. The award was presented to Navalnaya at Oslo’s City Hall by Tanele Maseko, widow of Thulani Maseko, the late Swazi human rights lawyer and renowned democracy advocate.
